Allo abesha.com. My tag is Choma. I write on http://yekolotemari.blog.com but I was asked to contribute to this site as well. I used to get a lot of love from yekolotemari but I took a break from writing (waiting for the FBI to determine the source of the death threats). I am an Ethiopian-American—born in Addis but raised since the age of 2 in the States. I reside on the East coast, but I got love for my big booty abesha brethren everywhere. The following are the writings from my trip to Mexico to celebrate my 30th birthday. Hope you enjoy. I also have an email that I check every 2-3 weeks.

. . . So much has happened to me since the last blog, but as I sit at my laptop on a beachfront villa in a Mexican resort town, I now know how beautifully pacifying the sound of the ocean is. Alas, I will focus on the important things:

First, this trip is a reward for all my blogging over the last 4 months . . . and as an early graduation present (in 3 months, I will have more degrees than most non-Nigerians). In the corrected vision blog, I wrote about my mature woman epiphany. And on this trip, I am with 25 other people, 7 of which are men. Yes, I am chilling in paradise with a 3:1 ratio. Think about that NYC dudes: the next time you go to a Queen of Sheba party with 50 men fighting over the same 6 women (Quiz: how many penises must you brush against on the way to the bathroom at Sheba? Answer. If it is less than 8, then Sheba just opened). Everyone on this trip is black, and except for one woman and male, 30 or more years old. Here’s the kicker: half of them could pass for 26 and have the bodies of younger women. While here I have actually been shamed into working out more (a married 38 year old woman with the roundest booty you have ever seen with a flat stomach and veins on her biceps—Wogesha I wrote that last detail for you). They all pass the giggle test.

Second, I am thoroughly impressed by women. To meet attractive and cool ladies that have a professional job (and its hours), financially ambitious, and a child—many of whom are single—I was blown away. Being a pampered Abesha male and particularly in the medical profession, I think I have been given more leeway than a female counterpart would. I am inherently self-absorbed. Maybe I was now, but it has only gotten worse over the last 5 years. At some point a year ago, I had 3-5 thoughts per day that I had the worse life. I lost perspective and gained a sense of entitlement. What these brave women did was teach me that happiness in your life is crucial because a) someone else always has it worse b) you miss out on enjoying life with family and friends and c) meeting big booty married women with flat stomachs (I don’t know how I fought the urge to grab that ass—especially when she was feeling me up when her husband left to go to the bathroom. Just cause I had a mini-epiphany doesn’t mean my game went soft!!!!!!).

Third, there is tequila and then there is the crap we drink in the States. There are a lot of shot takers here in the US that mask the putrid burn of imported tequila with salt and lime. I have avoided tequila largely for this reason. However, the key as any true connoisseur will mention is what percentage is agave. Blue agave is the plant from which tequila is made. Depending on the purity of the agave as well as its quality, the distillation process can result in very different drinks. The ones I consumed with 100% agave were very easy to take especially the reposado (aged less than 1 year). There are three types that vary according to duration of aging: blanco, reposado, and anejo with progressively increasing duration of aging. The anejo is too oak tasting for me. Anyway that joint was smooth and it works. I brought back two bottles, and after tsome, somebody gonna get hurt real bad . . . somebody. I am rocking out.
